Another Great Year of Homeschooling

Just a bit of information to my reader’s! My children have passed mom’s exams and will head to the 10th grade next school year! They are excited and ready for the upcoming school year. It has turned out to be a long road but they did well.

Next, year they will be doing algebra II, Biology, Computer programming, American Literature, and History of the American Nation. Of course, they are all excited about all of the classes that they will take in the upcoming year.

A very proud moment to see that I have done my job as a mother, and teacher to my children. I am very glad that I chose to homeschool four years ago. It has turned out to be the best experience of my life.

Looking forward to the upcoming year as we learn more about a variety of things. I believe that the hardest part for them this year was English Literature however, they passed with no problems. I also learned quite a bit from teaching them in English Literature.

Algebra of course, they were surprised when I could solve the problem in my head without working it out on paper. They are getting to where they can do some problems like that but I told them that it takes time to be able to look at a problem and solve it without working it out.

A Note To My Reader’s

In the month of May I will not be writing as much! I have to get final exam’s ready for the children. Homeschooling is not an easy task and they come first. I will try to post a few things here and there throughout this month. However, making sure that the children pass their final exams is the most important thing to me right now.

I know that everyone will understand! I am working on some articles right now but they are not finished and not ready to publish.

So here is hoping that the children pass their final exams and move onto the 10th grade!!!!!

The Outside World

When I look outside I see the wonderful things that make the world what it is at one point in our lives we have to look beyond the trees, forest, and other things that you may see outside. There are many things that you can learn about the outside as we have learned through our homeschooling within the last three years. The children have learned so much about the outside world, forest, trees, insects, and other things that you may see if you sit still long enough. You have to imagine sometimes some of the things that you would like to see by using your imagination you can see anything that you want. It just depends on how much you would like to see when you take that stroll outside. Walking through the forest, woods, or anything else gives you that calm collective feeling of the outdoors, and the different types of wildlife that you may see on your stroll. Finding your calm peace of mind is what makes the day brighter. Seeing something that you have never seen before on your walks makes you want to walk more because you never know what you will see the next time. It becomes a way of life and making that a part of your life can help you think through some of the problems or uncertainties that you may have throughout your life.

The Start of 2013

Today is the first day of the new year and there will be many things on the agenda for the upcoming year.

One of the items on the list is to make sure to write everyday any thoughts, conversations or anything else that comes to mind during the day. Keeping notes about what happened throughout the day can lead to some wonderful stories that others would love to read.

The second item on the list is to become a professor, and put this education to use. Instead of watching it waste away with nothing to show for the hard effort to pass all classes.

The third thing is to keep the children interested in the schoolwork that they are required to learn in the upcoming school year. The children love to learn and they also love to add more items to our terrarium.

There are other things that she would love to accomplish this year along with the ones that are listed. She will manage to make every goal this year.

This chilly weather this morning as the fog goes over the mountains. The children are waking up and it is time to start the day of homeschooling. They enjoy every minute of being at home. Some parents think that homeschooling is not good for children because they do not socialize as much as public school children do.

Personally, I believe that my children have done better at home because they receive that one on one experience that they would not get in public school. They have a social life, and spend time with other children.

They enjoy the time that they spend with their friends. Some people say that their children will not know how to kiss or how to communicate with other children especially during highschool.

Well again my personal opinion is that children are going to school for an education not to learn how to kiss, do drugs, or anything else. There are too many things going on in the world today and to many things that parents have to worry about. They should not have to worry about their little children getting drugs or anything else from other children.

Well the first weekend of the new year is over. Students and teachers across the state are heading back to school. The chilly air this morning leaves the feeling of warmth as the wood stove burns to keep the house warm for the children.

There is nothing like waking up in the morning to the aroma of fresh cut wood, and the aromatic smells from the foldger’s coffee brewing. The sounds of the interstate traffic going in either direction to reach their destination.

The day starts off with coffee, and a nice little fire. The children are sleeping and the husband went to work. As she sits here in the kitchen looking out at the frost covered ground. Listening to the traffic go up and down the interstate. Everyday wondering where they are headed, and what they will do when they reach their destination.

She sent the children on a scavenger hunt yesterday to find some items that they are learning about in class. They had fun and found most of the items on the list. Of course, some of the items were placed in the little terrarium that Dakota made to keep the pill bugs in to feed the frogs.

imageThis is one of the crickets that the children caught for our terrarium and the frogs that were inside. They enjoyed learning about crickets and the way they live their life. Well until they get eaten by the frogs, and lizards! It was a wonderful experience and one that we will continue throughout the upcoming years.
