Challenging yourself

A2Z-BADGE [2016]

Challenging yourself throughout your life is something that will always happen. You have to challenge yourself to be better at everything that you do within your life. You cannot settle for nothing less that the best. People may make fun of you because you like to spend your time challenging yourself to learn more about everything in your life. It may be related to work or something else in your life.

She likes to spend her time reading about multiple things and spending time with her family. Using her mind to  make the best of the things that she has in her life. You can only worry about things that are going on around you instead of worrying about things that you cannot control.

Life is a challenge and you have to be willing to go the extra mile to achieve the things that you want out of that life. If you just sit around playing video games you will never accomplish anything but your high score. Making yourself a list of goals to achieve will help you through the challenges that you will face throughout your life.

Things always have a challenging part to them and sometimes you have to be strategic in how you approach those challenges. For example, a person going to college needs to prioritize what they think is the most important thing like graduating college. Instead of putting those assignments on hold because there is a party going on at another person’s frat house. The reason you went to college in the first place is to get that education to get the job that you have spent so much money on.

Achieving a challenge is the greatest feeling that you can have throughout your life because you are working towards something better. You are striving to make your life better by using your money wisely, saving for the future, and making sure that you can become self-sufficient in the world that we are living in now.

Research

In college, you learn how to do research on a variety of things. You have to engage yourself in the midst of learning about things that you never dreamed about throughout your college life. You find out a variety of interesting things when you do research. Right now, I am working on researching my ancestry and have found out some interesting things about my family heritage.

During college you have many essay’s that require you to read, read, and read. You cannot just simply read one chapter and then write your essay. You need to read and take notes before you start your essay. Research is the main key into finding out those hidden treasures that you are seeking.

Even after college you have to research things like the company that you would like to work for, and you have to learn something about that company. Employer’s will ask you why you have chosen their company compared to other company’s in the same field. You need to impress your potential company with telling them something that you know about their company.

In researching potential jobs you look through the newspaper, online job boards, and other areas to find the right job that matches your skills, knowledge, and expertise. After all many people want to find that job that matches their credentials.

If you do your research before the assignment is due then you should not have any problems making an essay out of the information that you have found throughout your research endeavor.

Writing essay’s in college, and doing the research proved to be a valuable expertise on my part because my husband would fuss at me for waiting till the last minute to write a 1000 word paper. However, I told him that it would not be a problem and it was not a problem because I could write about the topic after reading about the topic for just a little while.

However, this was something that worked for me because I could write, and write without stopping. Sometimes I would have to stop myself and edit the work that I had done because I would usually go over the word count. I guess when I started college I wanted to write all the time, and now it has carried over into making this blog. Writing about things that I have learned and experienced in my life.

Happy writing!

Forever a Student

We live in a great time where we don’t have to go to a room to be a student. We are the generation raised by the Internet, its up to us how we use it. I recently started looking on youtube key words, “start up business” or “photography lighting” to learn from professionals. I want to use the knowledge given freely to learn more about the skills I want to develop. I’ve probably watched every Steve Jobs interview out there.

Creative live.com is one great resources I discovered years ago. If you catch a live showing, the classes are free. They have workshops with professionals on all kinds of subjects. A course I’ve bought was from celebrity wedding photographer, Joe Buissink. Hearing how he developed his business and his photography style has been so helpful to me. There is no excuses when it comes to learning something new. I encourage you to…

The Many Reasons Why I Went to College

1339521579512

One of the main reasons that I went to college was to further my career. When I was younger I did not like school because of several different reasons. However, when I completed my Associates degree in Business Management things changed. I understood that for you to get a better job you needed not only the experience but the education to go along with that. Of course, the first few months of starting college were challenging to say the least. Working full-time, raising children, and making sure that you completed all the course work that you needed to complete the courses. It was a task but somehow I managed to make it through the first two years of college with a 3.10 GPA. How exciting it was to finally achieve something.

After completing the associate’s degree I decided that I would go a little further and work on a Bachelor’s degree because I wanted to prove to my children that they can do anything that they put their mind to doing. Our children need to understand that they have options in this world. I remember a letter that my daughter wrote when she attended public school and one of the questions was “Who are you proud of?” My daughter wrote that she was proud of her mommy for getting her education and graduating college. You just do not understand how emotional that was to read. The impact you make on your children is something that will last with you for the rest of your life. Knowing that I have influenced my children into making the right decisions about their future has made me a very proud parent.

As the pursuit of the bachelor’s degree came into effect and taking only one class every six weeks made things a little easier. The best part of college was learning  new things and making the best grades. I managed to make it through another two years of college while working full-time. Some people would ask me how I managed doing all that I do. It is simple when it is something that you want to do you will work hard to make it a reality. Getting a college education was something that I wanted to do so I excelled in college. Towards the end of the bachelor’s degree I thought about where I wanted to go next. When the final classes were approaching my advisor’s were calling to see what I wanted to do next. After graduating with a 3.02 GPA I decided that the next step would involve more college. You know sometimes you feel like your college education is not worth the hassle because of the limited amount of experience you have within the workforce. Sometimes you can fall into a depressed state because you feel like your education is holding you back.

Most companies that you apply at usually tell you that you have too much experience and that you will not work for the amount that they are willing to pay. Other companies tell you that you do not have enough experience for the job at hand. The whole point of going to college is to obtain the education and then find a job where you can obtain the experience. While looking through the classifieds I see very few jobs and all required five to ten years of experience in that field. However, one cannot obtain the experience without the company taking a chance and allowing them to obtain the experience that they need for that position.

Still in spite of achieving goals that I have set for myself on the pursuit to obtain a better education I decided to go along and enroll into a Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Small Business. Eventually, one day I would like to have my own business and have something that I can leave to my children when I leave this world. Upon entering into the Master’s Degree you had to keep your GPA above a 3.0. Of course, for some people this is hard to do and towards the end of the Master’s program it was an issue for me however, I had to put it in my mind that my education is the key to my success within the business world. After everything that I have went through with the years of going to college my master’s was the biggest challenge I faced in the whole time of going to college. If I had it to do all over again I would in a second because it was an awesome achievement. I graduated in 2012 with a 3.05 and it was the biggest achievement that I have had throughout the years.

I have watched many people that start college and end up quitting because they do not have the time to party or go out with their friends. I on the other hand want more out of my life than to work all my life for someone else. I had the pleasure of going to college with some fabulous people and shared in some awesome discussions from every topic you can think of throughout your college courses. I have even written about some of the things that I do at my current job in the essays that I had to write for different business classes. I also had the pleasure of having some great professor’s that helped you understand the information that was given in class.

Now, after graduating it is time to put my career in full motion and work towards achieving the goals of gaining the experiences needed to further my career. Patience is a virtue and good things come to those who wait. I know that all the hard work that I have put into my education will pay off in the end.

So here’s to the future and for those who think that college is a waste of time you need to rethink your thoughts and find out where you want to be five years or even ten years from now.

Why We Love College (and You Should Too!)

I know that I have put a lot of time and effort into graduating college with a MBA and I know that one day I will get the job that I went to college for.

beers boys and books

At times you can feel stuck, like you’re paying all this money and putting in all this effort and time for a piece of paper. A piece of paper that means what you will be doing for the rest of your life. That can be a little intimidating. Okay, it can be down right scary. Because how do you know that you’re in the right major? How do you know that you’re even at the right school? When we were kids, we believed we could be anything we wanted. An astronaut, a princess, maybe even a singer (not me LOL). But then we graduated high school and landed in college and the reality of life set in and we soon realized we couldn’t be everything we always wanted. Sometimes we have to settle for a variation of that. But this is life, and you never know what’s coming next, and…

The End of Day Routine

The first thing that I do when I get home from work is say hello to my family and see how their day has gone. For the most part I am home during the day and can see how their day goes. After having a couple cups of coffee, and checking my email, or other things. It is nice to have some quiet time when I get home from work to relax my mind and regroup on what I need to do. Most of the week I have assignments that are due and discussion questions that need to be answered. But somehow I managed to get everything done and turned in on time. When I get done with school work and grading paper’s I like to play some games on Facebook! That is addicting in itself. Very seldom do I go without checking Facebook for one thing or another. I like to write some about the day and week’s that I have had. Who I have met, and conversations that we have. But the most important thing is spending time with my family when I get home from work.

Give three examples of important tradeoffs that you face in your life

180211_10150960014629939_177941515_nSome of the tradeoffs that she faces in her life deal with homeschooling, college, work, and family. Sometimes it is hard to make enough time in the day for these things that she holds dear to her heart. Sometimes there is not enough time and you have to make sure that you have the time to get the required things done with the allocated time that you have during a day. You have to spend your time wisely to manage to get the items done in the allocated time that you have set out for those items. First, homeschooling is important because the future of her children is in the midst of learning what to expect in the outside world. So making the right amount of time to spend with her children to make sure that they learn the basic concepts that they will need to know in the real world. Secondly, college in order for her to further her career, and learning experience she needs to make the most of her college learning experience and use the information in the outside world. Many companies today are looking for people that are educated and understand the concepts of running a business. She needs to make sure that she has allocated enough time for her to understand the concepts that she will learn in her classes, and how she can use them in the real world. Furthermore, making time for your family is the most important because they come first in your life. She knows that having your family stand beside you through the hard times, good times, and any other times that may become a part of your life. Making time for the family can involve many things like taking them out on an outing, having a barbeque, watching a movie together or just spending quality time together as a family.  People do not manage their time wisely therefore, they are stressing about the things that they need to accomplish throughout the day. Planning your day with schedules, and making sure that you have the right amount of time to spend on each of the things that you need to accomplish will leave you feeling that you have accomplished something today.  The part of your day that takes up at least eight hours of your time is work. This is essential in making the money to pay the bills, and other things that you need in your life. Without money, you cannot accomplish much in your life so you have to allocate your time to make the money that you need to make it in the world. Everything that you do in life revolves around money, and you cannot make ends meet without that green paper money that everyone strives to make enough of to make life easier and without worries. Some of the things that you learn in college help you understand the concepts in the real world. Any business wants to make money that is why they are a business.
